Is this for real this time? It appears the reconciliation of the SSPX with the Holy Father, Our Roman Pontiff Benedict XVI, is complete save the authoritative publication of the decree.
Il Giornale reports that the Holy Father has lifted the decree of excommunication against the Bishops consecrated by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in 1988. If so this is indeed welcome news since this bastion of Catholic tradition has preserved intact the rituals and ceremonies of the Latin rite which had been codified by the Council of Trent and only superceded by the Novus Ordo Mass in 1970.
The Novus Ordo has become in many ways a horror show of decadent and often sacrilegious ceremony replete with the use of puppets, clowns, crockery and pita bread in order to pander to the amusement of an increasingly decadent Catholic populace. (As an aside, this author would like to see the ‘hymnal’ “Glory and Praise” placed on the Index of Prohibited Books.) The reintegration of the SSPX with the Apostolic See will assure a more sensible and reasoned interpretation of Vatican II consistent with traditional Catholic sensibility and hopefully it will provide a nucleus from which a reborn faithful will emerge after this 40 years of wandering in the spiritual desert of innovation, bad church music and vapid homilies consisting of happy talk and psychobabble, absent a prophetic voice and the denunciation of sin.
I hail the return of the SSPX and pray earnestly for the restoration of the dignity and solemnity of the Holy Mass and Catholic identity.
