Kansas Abortion Doctor Murdered in Church

George Tiller, a Wichita doctor who was one of the few doctors in the nation to perform late-term abortions, was shot to death on Sunday as he attended church, city officials in Wichita said. HT Catholic Edition

This is a disgrace.

This type of action will only harm the pro-life cause and further incite hatred against Christians. No matter how wrong and murderous this doctor’s actions, his murder cannot be justified and his murderer must face justice. The murderer has only secured a sure spot for abortion as a social norm and has further cast the pro-life movement as tin foil hat wearing right wing extremist lunatics bent on fundamentalist Christian jihad against women.

A pro-life outlook must be internally consistent: More than the defense of intrauterine persons only, a truly pro-life perspective abhors all destruction of human life. The pro-life person asks for the mercy of killers and their conversion, just as Christ as He was being executed unjustly begged the Father’s forgiveness for His murderers. We cannot do evil to accomplish good.

No war, no executions, no violence, no torture, no human trafficking, no enslavement, no starvation, this insanity must cease and it can only cease through genuine conversion: Metanoia is more than just confessional belief and religious partisanship. Because we, you and I lack faith these horrors continue, we do not live good lives as Christians and are only bent on “following the rules”, but we do not love God and our neighbors.

In our charity let us pray for God’s mercy on this doctor, his murderer and the United States where the endless culture of death continues to escalate.

Christians, be converted: Take discipline lest God angers and you perish from the way (Psalm 2).
