Yes, thank you for your comment which reflects the typical whitewashing of homosexualism and its role in the Scandal. While sexual misconduct has existed for many decades, even centuries, and in every vocation and profession, the phenomenon we are witnessing now in the Roman Catholic Church is due exactly to a homosexualist presence in the Seminaries and Monasteries that has resulted from selective recruitment and the cultivation of a gay subculture in the priesthood. It is a presence that is not by chance but has resulted from homosexualist activism in these institutions, something not unlike the type of activism you are now engaged in in the secular world. If you check my link in the post none other than Father Richard McBrien, a prominent dissident Catholic priest himself has admitted this.

<blockquote><a href="http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,959025,00.html#ixzz0i7WKNYHk" rel="nofollow">Father Andrew Greeley, the irrepressible sociologist and novelist, complained in a recent article that regard for priestly celibacy is being undermined by a "national network" of actively homosexual clergy. "In some dioceses, certain rectories have become lavender houses," he grumbled. Theologian Richard McBrien of the University of Notre Dame contends that homosexuality is so widespread that "heterosexual males are deciding in ever increasing numbers not even to consider the priesthood."</a></blockquote>

The evidence is there and the highest ranks of the clergy have said as much to support this fact: The current crisis of sexual misconduct in the catholic priesthood is a problem of homosexuality. If not then why are the majority of the victims adolescent males at the time of the incident? Having known victims of homosexual predator priests myself, this much is clear in each and every story I have listened to, the Perps were gay men- period, Gay men who were priests. Nothing else.

Very sadly misinformed and bigoted. The premise, all child abusing priests are gay, is exactly why the problem exists in the church! Abusers are egotistical, power-crazed monsters. They are policemen in barracks, prisoners in jails, fathers at home, and clergy in every church.

Too many priests have confessed to being abusers. More than most people have heard. Priests have confessed to attacking both boys and girls. Bishops and archbishops have families on the side. Some in other countries.

The most glaring problem in faulting all priests as being gay, is how demeaning your story is to the victims who regardless of your premise must suffer this psychological blemish of another's sin for the rest of their life.

Pretty harsh words and tone for Vox-Nova. I don't want to get in a blog battle, so I'll make this minor correction: Vox-Nova was founded by a philosophy graduate student and only 3 or 4 of them are theology students. Others are working adults, or students in other fields like me.

Maybe that makes thing better, maybe it makes things worse---I dont know.

Thank you for your response. Perhaps "divisive" would have been a better word? Parsing words can be such a bother. However, a quick read of the contents of your contributions to VN and those of your collaborators would lead any reasonable person to conclude that VN is leftist and has a leftist agenda. The thing speaks for itself. I will let others draw their own conclusions. Most entertaining there has been the thread on torture, especially the false arguments leading readers to conclude that <a href="http://vox-nova.com/2010/02/11/another-post-on-banning-torture-supporters-from-communion/" rel="nofollow">EWTN's Raymond Arroyo is somehow "pro-torture"</a>. While I am aware that you did not write this and you may again try that tired argument of "guilt by association, the fact of your contributions aiding and abetting the process makes you complicit in this absurd calumny. Unless of course you would agree that watching EWTN is torture, this much is true but that is a matter of taste. VN is a "leftist" blog much in the same way one would consider watching EWTN "torture", your sinistral orientation may not inhere essentially, but it certainly smells that way. De gustibus....

Point of order:

Vox Nova is not a "leftist blog." More importantly, such an ad hominem demonstrates the problem in this dialogue.

you wrote.. I suspect they will be the targets of the new euthanasia movement once it gets running in a major state like New York or California- “these poor people, they have no ‘quality of life’, you know”.

*I am afraid your gonna be right. Worse yet, many Catholics will probably be on the wrong side of that issue too. You know- as an act of mercy. :(

Stange but the word mercy will be used for death but not for life.
